You count down the days to freedom. The sprawling expanse of concrete and smoke offers an endless expanse of decadence. It’s oppressive. It’s alienating. It’s idle, menacing, sadistic, and I want it all.
We may be victims of a fatality, there is no hope for us, for any of us, but if so, yet let us cast a last, terrible howl of agony, a shriek of challenge, a battle cry! Enough whining! Let the dead bury the dead. And we, the living, let's dance to the brink one last agonizing dance, but a real dance.
